This sturdy wood transfer board is an essential tool for caregivers to easily and safely transfer patients, allowing them to move with independence while protecting caregivers from injury. The sealed and coated board provides easy, safe and secure transfers to assist a move from a wheelchair, bed, chair, sofa, commode or any sitting position. It is ideal for disabled, wheelchair bound, elderly, or post-surgery individuals. The board allows the patient to slide with ease across the glossy surface, offering extra leverage with cutout handles that have been rounded, sanded, and sealed for comfort.

In addition to aiding in transfers, the transfer board can be used as a mobility aid for those living independently who require assistance moving from place to place. To use a transfer board, position one end of the board on the starting point and the other end on the destination to which you want to transfer, such as the bed, chair, car, or wheelchair. The tapered ends should be facing up to help the person slide onto the board. Try to keep the board as level as possible and be sure to lock any wheelchairs in place. After helping the person onto the board, assist them as they slide across it in short movements, ensuring that they are dry to avoid any friction.

We highly recommend using the DMI Gait Belt in conjunction with this board to help assist in moving the person. Always consult a trained professional if there are questions about using a transfer board, and only attempt to use it if you have been properly trained.
